Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor, speaker, consultant and syndicated columnist. She is also an author, and television personality. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage, was founded by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then left the business. One of the original "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in every season of ABC's Shark Tank until now. In February of 2020, she had signed 53 deals for the show, with the most significant being a $350,000 investment in 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was second in a family of 10 children, and was raised in Edgewater. Florence Corcoran's mom, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father, was a skilled worker throughout Corcoran's early years. Sometimes, the family relied on the delivery of free food from a local grocer. Corcoran still remembers her father as someone who was drunk sometimes and treated her mother with disrespect. Corcoran struggled in school, and eventually discovered that she had dyslexia. Corcoran was educated in an Catholic elementary and then started high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran dropped several classes during her first year before transferring to Leonia High School where she was an A student.
